File Conversion for Pro Tools® 5.0 or higher

The MP3 Option allows Pro Tools users running 5.1 software or higher* to both import and export MP3 files in the simple and familiar Pro Tools environment. The MP3 Option is based on the superior compression technology of Germany's Fraunhofer Institute.

Implemented into Pro Tools as a user-friendly import and export option, MP3 Option allows you to post musical compositions on the Internet with the best MP3 compression available, as well as import MP3 files into your Pro Tools sessions. It features the very latest encoding technology, offering dramatic improvements in processing speed, enhanced processing quality, and support of constant bit rate (CBR) encoding at bit rates of up to 320 kbps.

NOTE: This product is only available as an online purchase of the license. There is no shippable product. Once you purchase the license for this product, you will receive a serial number/authorization code. You will also receive a link to a download of documents with installation instructions.

The MP3 Option downloads on the DigiStore are only the installation instructions. If you are on Pro Tools 6.0 or higher, there is no need to download anything. The installation instructions and additional troubleshooting help can be found in the Support/Downloads section of the Digidesign website in the MP3 Option FAQ & Installation Instructions

If you run into installation problems, please try the suggestions there, including these:

1. You may have to delete ALL files from your Codecs/MP3 folder, then run the installer again. The MP3demo.dll file and the MP3.dll file cannot both be in the Codecs/MP3 folder.

2. You may also need to update to the latest version of the PACE InterLok drivers
